Building Superintelligence for Humanity

Diverse superintelligence. Distributed agency. Human intelligence augmentation.

October 8 · 4–7 PM Pacific · San Francisco

Building Superintelligence for Humanity is an intimate, dialogue-based gathering during SF Tech Week for people thinking deeply about the future of AI, human agency, and collective intelligence.

Attendance is by application through Partiful.

The focus

Many minds. Shared possibility.

Three connected questions guide this next conversation about Artificial Collective Intelligence and advanced AI in the service of humanity.

01

Diverse superintelligence

Explore intelligence across different minds, cultures, disciplines, and forms of life. How can human–AI collectives preserve distinct perspectives, situated expertise, and productive disagreement as their capabilities grow?

How can diversity become a source of collective capability?

02

Distributed agency

Examine how people, agents, and institutions can share context and coordinate action while retaining local authority, consent, and accountability. Who sets goals, delegates decisions, and has the power to revise or refuse?

How can we act together while preserving human agency?

03

Human intelligence augmentation

Consider systems that expand human understanding, creativity, judgment, and collaboration. What would it take for advanced AI to help people learn, reason, and participate more effectively in the decisions that shape their lives?

What should AI help people become able to do?

An open dialogue

Questions to work through together

A collaborative salon for exchanging perspectives, testing assumptions, and finding practical directions for research and collaboration.

  1. 01

What architectures enable plural, complementary forms of intelligence to learn and reason together?

  2. 02

How should authority, responsibility, and decision rights be distributed across human–AI collectives?

  3. 03

How can tacit expertise and institutional memory be shared with provenance, consent, and revocability?

  4. 04

Which measures would demonstrate gains in human judgment, creativity, and collective problem-solving?

  5. 05

What practical experiments, benchmarks, and collaborations could carry this work into the next phase?

The gathering

A room for researchers, builders, and civic voices

Researchers, founders, investors, technologists, and civic leaders coming together for a collaborative salon on shaping advanced AI in the service of humanity.

Hosted by Cognisee PBC

Cognisee PBC is a frontier lab building Artificial Collective Intelligence. This session brings together people working across research, technology, investment, and civic life to explore advanced AI in the service of humanity.

A continuing conversation

From Cambridge to San Francisco

This is a continuation of the dialogue that started on May 18–19 at Harvard and the California Institute for Machine Consciousness, and continued at Harvard during Boston Tech Week on May 26.

The series has brought together voices including Blaise Agüera y Arcas, Bruce Schneier, Divya Chander, Hiroaki Kitano, Joscha Bach, Michael Levin, Tricia Wang, and many others. Explore their contributions and the research frame in the existing archives.
